I recently transferred all my VHS tapes to my laptop to burn. It was great and a whole lot cheaper than paying [...] bucks per cassette.
When I first got it, I had trouble getting the driver off the website (I have Windows 7 BTW). But I just called the support number that was on a card that came in the box and the guy walked me through setting it up. He also emailed me the link to the driver for Windows 7 since I had trouble finding it on the site.
After that, it was smooth sailing. I inserted the cassettes into my VHS player on the TV and connected my Dazzle thing to the TV on one end and USB to laptop on the other. Then I played the VHS tapes and hit "record" on the laptop and just let the whole video play. I did this for all my VHS tapes. I also had some footage on those camcorder tapes so I connected the dazzle to the video camera and recorded from there as well as the mini tapes played.
The process was really easy for me. The annoying part of the process didn't even have to do with anything related to the product. editing on Windows Movie maker was annoying and saving as DVD took forever. Actually burning to the DVD (I used Windows software for this as well) took even longer. But now that I'm all done converting, I'll let all my friends use it for their tapes and such and then see if I can sell it.
I would definitely recommend this product! I went around looking for quotes to get my DVDs made by sending them out and the prices were ridiculous. This process took a long time (Around 2 days per cassette if I really sat down and worked on it), but I saved a lot of money. Just remember the DVDs will look just like the cassettes did, the quality will not get better.
FYI I bought this at OfficeMax. I had a card that was off a purchase of $[...] and this cost .99, so I got it at about 35 bucks plus tax

This is the only real choice for Mac programming now, since Apple's free development tools don't support OS9. That's not a bad thing. CodeWarrior offers pretty much everything you need. PowerPlant is excellent for quick development, and the editor has plenty of useful features.
On the downside, the debugger doesn't work very well under OS X PB, and the printed documentation isn't included. But it's still a great program.
This CodeWarrior package tackles every element of a new software project, from the technical aspects to the project management and product release. Grouping together an editor, compiler, linker, and debugger--all through a common GUI, not as separate "bundled" features--offers complete integration of all components of your project. You'll find the interface familiar, although if you're new to the Metrowerks family you may have an initial phase consisting of just getting the hang of some of their terminology. But have little fear: you can easily polish off your understanding of how to get the most out of CodeWarrior through the free online courses offered at Metrowerks' Web site.
CodeWarrior's versatility shines through in the choices available to you: you can pick your platform, your programming language, and your target processor, all from one place. So if you're a fan of C, C++, or Java, and like to use Windows 95/NT, Mac OS, or Solaris, you can get numerous combinations out of the one application.
Bringing it all together--working hard as the director of your musical software production, and never acting as the restrictive, bossy stage mother--is the project window. It's a comfortable place, with a strong resemblance to common file management systems like Windows Explorer. Add and remove files, organize them into groups, reorganize them: the project window keeps all of the relationships straight. And if your project is large, you can break it into subprojects for ease of use.
And maybe for you it's the little things: we particularly liked some of the customizable options that really made the workspace more efficient and homey. You'll also find that cool tools are at your fingertips, like the dead code stripper and a symbolic browser new to this edition.
Because this CodeWarrior package isn't language-specific, advanced users or those loyal to one language may find a few (but not many) areas that are slim on features. But if you're looking for an all-in-one package or are only interested in learning one IDE for all your programming needs, this is the way to go. And in light of the fact that Metrowerks is working hard on improving the product through numerous updates and recently released support for the QNX and Linux platforms, CodeWarrior is increasing in versatility as time goes by, rather than becoming archaic. --Emilie Dirks
Speed your time to market by creating, compiling, linking, assembling, and debugging within a single, integrated development environment. Use the tightly integrated tools to speed your development time, or plug-in familiar third-party editors, compilers, and debuggers. CodeWarrior Pro 6.0 provides tight conformance to the current ANSI/ISO C++ standard. The integrated development environment offers increased extensibility and customization options. These include importing/exporting project and target settings in XML format, and customization of many of the CodeWarrior IDE user interface elements, with full support for COM Automation APIs.
While this product is dated and does not contain all of the modern bells and whistles of more sophisticated packages, I still find it of value. In terms of cost, ease of use and simplicity, I would much rather use it to teach introductory C++ than Microsoft Visual C++. I have used both packages to teach C++ at the college level and it is so much easier to use the Borland package. It uses fewer resources and the cost is nominal to non-existent. The faster loads and compiles also save a surprising amount of time. That is never more prominent than when you are lecturing to a class and demonstrating how a code change affects the output. This requires that you wait for the compile and link sequence to complete and the Borland package is much faster.
The coverage is also more than adequate for all aspects of C and C++ that one normally covers in the introductory courses. When teaching C++, I avoid the introduction of GUI development as long as possible, preferring to concentrate on how to program rather than how to lay objects on a form. Since there is no visual component to this package, there is the added advantage that the student cannot be distracted by it. In my experience in teaching Visual Basic, students seem to be so enthralled by the visual aspects that they consider the more important coding to be secondary. That is of course false, but it is a very hard point to get across.
I have used this package to teach C/C++ and also use it to write most of the programs I use in my mathematical research. You can get students up and running in a matter of minutes and keeping them using it is very low maintenance.
